What is argentium silver? I know you are dying to know. It is 93.5% or 96% pure silver (a bit higher than traditional .925 sterling) and the element germanium. The germanium makes it both harder and tarnish resistant, requiring less maintenance to keep clean.
From the jeweler's perspective, it behaves more like fine silver when working with it. You can fuse it (meld together without solder) and it makes the most perfectly beautiful balls when you heat the end of a wire. Sterling silver tends to be pitted and irregular, which is why I prefer to use argentium silver on my simple beaded earrings. That's probably more than you wanted to know, but to sum it up: it looks like sterling silver, has more actual silver content, and behaves more like fine silver.
